Acoustica MP3 CD Burner Reviewer's Comments
Acoustica CD–burning software houses a simple installation and setup process that produces excellent CDs. Acoustica is a bit complicated for the beginner, but a good option for those somewhat familiar with burning CDs.
Acoustica MP3 CD Burner works with Windows Vista.
Acoustica’s most outstanding feature is the ability to perform a test burn on the disc. This allows you to detect any errors ahead of time to avoid wasting a CD–R. A few convenient features that are lacking in this product are drag and drop features and the ability to convert WMA files. The program does not allow you to erase of CD–RW data, change software languages or backing up data files onto a CD–R. With the addition of these features, Acoustica would offer a much more versatile and competitive software product.
Ease of Use:
We had some difficulty understanding the available options; the burning process was not straightforward. For example, to make a proper copy you must be aware that the top navigation buttons are not in sequential order. The rip button appears at the end of the list, after the burn button. Burning data to your hard drive is prerequisite to ripping, so the buttons are presented in an illogical sequence. Another difficulty occurred when we failed to shutdown active anti–virus programs or did not specify the type of disc to which we were copying. In this case, the program would not produce the copy.
Ease of Installation:
The installation and setup process was error–free and simple.
Quality of Copy:
Acoustica produced an excellent copy with no major distinction between the original and the copy. There was no skipping between tracks or distortion in the audio quality.
Help/Documentation:
We would have ranked the help documentation higher if it had been presented in a more straightforward way; there was no overview of entire copying process in the help section. The help section was thorough, but we had to keep bouncing back to the main menu to locate the rest of the information we were looking for. Due to this choppy presentation, the help section was difficult to follow.
Summary:
Overall, Acoustica is a good product which offers excellent CD–burning capabilities. With the addition of a few convenient features and some new organization for the help documentation and main screen, this product would rank much higher.
