Don’t let the name of our “TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award” winning software fool you, DVD Movie Factory is a full fledge media burning machine. Although it is first and foremost a DVD Authoring Tool, the number of burning and copying tools is immeasurable. Frankly, we were surprised at how versatile DVD Movie Factory really is, and it’s easy to use too.
DVD Movie Factory can burn audio discs, data discs and video discs. You can also create a slideshow, import directly from a camcorder and even create a music DVD video. Even those that find themselves intimidated by multimedia software will find DVD Movie Factory easy to use and handy.
Although DVD Movie Factory is a great program it is missing some of the extra fancy features offered in our top two CD Burning software choices.
DVD Movie Factory supports CDs, DVDs and even Blu-ray discs. You can create an MP3 music disc, plain audio CD, audio DVD and even a music DVD video. You can also rip your music CDs from the drive and convert them to MP3s. Once your music is ripped to a digital format you can then convert it to WMA, OGG or WAV. We would like to see support for AAC.
Movie Factory’s data support is actually quite impressive. Although you can simply copy and burn data files to a disc you can also create a secure data disc and even a bootable data disc for executable files.
As a bit of a burning bonus DVD Movie Factory’s video support is where this software shines. It includes complete authoring functionality and a small video editor. You can also keep it simple with a simple photo based slideshow with accompanying music. Perhaps the only addition we’d like to see here is a small photo editor. But it’s not 100% necessary.
