Gear CD-RW Reviewer's Comments
Gear CD–RW—the latest CD–burning software from Gear Software, is a good product which produces an excellent CD copy.
This product didn't receive a 4 ranking because Gear CD-RW doesn't have all the basic features that competitive software offers. Gear CD-RW is missing a CD player and the software lacks a preview music option that allows you to listen to a track before committing to burning it. Gear CD-RW also lacks file markers and there is no way to track when the size of your selected files exceeds the size of your blank medium.
Ease of Use:
If you have prior experience with CD–burning software programs, you'll find this program is relatively easy to navigate. A novice, however, will have to spend some time with the user manual to learn to operate the program smoothly.
Ease of Installation:
Gear CD–RW was fairly easy to install except for one error. Every time the program would open, an error message popped up. The only way that we got the program to run properly was to uninstall it from our PC control panel and then reinstall it. On our second try everything went smoothly.
Quality of Copy:
Gear CD–RW creates an excellent copy. The copy had absolutely no track distortion or skipping.
Help/Documentation:
The help documentation contains all the information you’ll need to use Gear CD–RW. The only recommended improvement–make the help document easier to navigate. The only way to find what you want is to scroll through the pages and hunt for what you need.
Summary:
Overall, Gear CD–RW is a good CD burning product.
