X-Copy-the latest CD burning software produced by Wolverine software-produces excellent copies and presents a unique animated robot to aid in the navigation process. But this product lacks many features available in other competitive software products. Also, X-Copy may be inappropriate for some as the main screens show photo displays of women in lingerie.
X-Copy exhibits all of the necessary features for creating an excellent CD. However, X-Copy lacks many features offered by other CD burning software products. X-copy offers no customization features and only allows the user to copy one CD to another CD. Although you can copy MP3s, the software does not present the drag and drop function to allow you to select specific tracks. If X-Copy would add a few more convenient features this product would be much more competitive.
Ease of Use:
X-Copy scored high for ease of use because the software offers a unique approach to aid you. With the use of an animated robot, the selection of options is more clear-cut. Once you choose an option, you need only to click the copy button and pick the songs you wish. The software will complete the rest of the process for you.
Ease of Installation:
X-Copy is a bit difficult to install due to the multiple downloads required. You must first download Microsoft Net Framework 1.1, then A.S.P.I. Drivers, Microsoft SAPI Runtime (with windows 98 or ME), Microsoft TTS Engine and finally the actual X-Copy software. Although the website provides a convenient link to download each program, each is a separate download making the setup and installation process somewhat tedious.
Quality of Copy:
The quality of the copy was excellent with no skipped tracks, music distortion or errors in the songs. There was no distinction between the copied and the original.
Help/Documentation:
The help documentation came up short. The only assistance offered was a robot that directed you through the burning process. This was an excellent method for aiding the novice user, but offered virtually no information about any other function in the program.
Summary:
Although X-copy produces a high-quality CD, modifications to the feature list, installation and setup process and help documentation would greatly improve X-Copy's popularity as a CD burning software product.
